Recommended Project Management Tools

engrcpmtools.JPG

In order to effectively build our project management tool selection quiz, we began with researching the potential tools to include in our recommendations to project managers. When deciding on tools to include in our recommendation, we based our research on what we expected our target users (or project managers) to look for in different tools.

Categories of the project management tool selection process

  • Team Size: 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️small (< 10 members), 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦medium (10-50 members), 🏚️small company, 🏢enterprise

  • Pricing Plan: 🆓free, 💲paid - flat rate, 💲paid - per member

  • Experience Level: 🔰beginner, 💼experienced

  • Target Industry

Product Drawbacks

Keeping our target user in mind, we wanted to make sure we could provide helpful insights into the tool beyond just recommending a tool from a set of criteria. Once the user takes the quiz and navigates to a specific project management tool page, we have included drawbacks about the tool. This is included so that our users are able to holistically weigh their options and decide if we have in fact recommended the best project management tool to them.

Project Management Tool Quiz

Beyond providing a collective view of the project management tools available, the quiz developed for recommending the ideal project management tool is intended to help project managers narrow down the best tool for their needs. The quiz walks through the categorization of our tool selection process and will ultimately recommend the top choices for project management tools that will fit their needs. Users may be familiar with some (or all) of the project management tools in the list, while others may be beginners to project management. Therefore, it will be important to include resources for both types of users.

Following the results from the quiz, we ask our users to navigate the document to find the page dedicated to the project management tool. Included is a more detailed page of the project management tools; this page will include more information about features of the tool and references/documentation for further reading, which may be helpful for more experienced PM tool users. It will also include links to step-by-step guides to get started with the tool for beginner users.
