Example User Profiles
Below are two different user profiles. These made up project managers are meant to help explain the target audience for our quiz. These profiles have also been created as example users who would need to communicate with upper management to convince them to allow the implementation of the recommended project management tool; we hope the included “use case” slide decks provide insight into how we would go about persuading for the usage and implementation of project management tools.
Meet Steve, a Beginner Project Manager
Steve is a project manager in the E-Commerce industry with less than a year of experience being a project manager. He has interacted with a few project management tools, but would still consider himself a beginner with project management tools. Steve’s team consists of 10 other individuals, and he wants to make sure there is high transparency in the project tasks, timeline, and communication. This project is a big new initiative for the firm to launch products onto an e-commerce site. This project requires delegating work and tracking timelines to make sure they meet their end of the quarter goals.
The firm that Steve works for has not previously found value or the need to use project management tools, but as they begin ramping up on this new project Steve is on the lookout for a tool to keep his team organized and on track. Furthermore, the firm is tight on funding, so he would prefer to find a project management tool that has minimal to no costs.
Given what we know about Steve and his limited background, our quiz recommends using Trello. It is beginner friendly, free, and has an intuitive design. Trello will help Steve stay organized on his firm’s initiative and it will provide his team clear communication, timeline transparency, and overall big picture visibility on the project
Meet Allison, an Experienced Project Manager
Allison is a project manager in the home goods industry with 13 years of experience using project management tools. Her team consists of 100 people and her team has a budget to pay for project management tools.
However in the past her team has used Basecamp. While this project management tool gets the basic job done, it has limited features that are starting to affect the team’s work. They like client sharing features as they tend to work with designers for brand deals, but want to expand to track budgeting within a central management system. More specifically issues come from Allison and her team missing deadlines because Basecamp does not have a gantt chart, members of the team doing repetitive work because there is not a clear distinction on task assignments, and the inability to track budgeting.
Given what we know about Allison and her more experienced background, our quiz recommends Wrike. It is a great tool for Allison’s team size and it would address the issues she has been experiencing with Basecamp. Wrike does cost money, but we know that Allison has the budget to pay for a more extensively designed project management tool. Wrike will allow Allison and her team to tackle any of their organizational, communication, and time management issues effectively; hopefully with our recommendation they will be able to find high success in their projects.
